Wealthy X recently released a report revealing that Harvard University has the highest number of ultra-high net worth individuals (those who have more than $30 million) than any other university.

The report found that 13,650 people considered to be UHNWI attended Harvard University, more than twice the number of UHNWI of Stanford University and the University of Pennsylvania.

Out of all the universities in the survey 17 out of 20 are in the US with 6 located in California claiming the highest amount of universities in one state. Out of the 20 schools, just three are international, The University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford located un the UK and the INSEAD located in France.

U.S. universities dominate the landscape here…That’s interesting, but it may not have been that surprising because the population in the U.S. is huge. The number of ultra-wealthy individuals who are based in the U.S. is around one- third of the whole global population, says Maeen Shaban, the director of research and analytics at Wealth-X.

The University of Virginia and the University of Chicago have the highest percentage of self-made UHNWI.

Columbia University, Northwest University and Boston University have the highest percentage of UHNWI at 12%, 11% and 10% according to the report.

“Female ultra-wealthy tend to have a much more mixed source of wealth than ultra-wealthy males,” Shaban comments.
